Etymology

Compound of ยา (yaa, “drug”) +‎ ม้า (máa, “horse”), literally “horse drug”. Renamed ยาบ้า (yaa-bâa, literally “mad drug”) in 1996 by the government of Banharn Silpa-archa (51st cabinet of Thailand).[1]
