Middle Welsh rodi (“to give”),^[1] from Proto-Brythonic *rrodid (deuterotonic), *rröð (prototonic); from Proto-Celtic *ɸro-dīti (“to put forward”), from Proto-Indo-European *dʰédʰeh₁ti (“to put”)^[2]
