Perhaps derived from Proto-Yeniseian *ɢojq (gall?, bile?).[1][2] Cognate with Ket ӄълей (qʌ́lɛj, yellow), 18th century Imbak Ket kagalɨŋbasam (yellow) (M., W., VW.) and kɨalmas (green) (Ad.).
