Etymology

From an earlier giambra, apparently derived from the sonorization of Old French chambre, if so, ultimately from Ancient Greek καμάρᾱ (kamárā). Cognate with Italian zambra. Doublet of cammra. Compare, for more, Galician cemba and Galician cómbaro.
