Etymology

According to Blažek, it developed from Proto-Afroasiatic *ʔanī[1], derived from the object *yi (with *ʔan- functioning as a prefix), rather than the more archaic *ʔanʔaku (from *ʔaku), whence Proto-Semitic *ʔanāku, Egyptian jnk, Proto-Berber *năkk.
