  1. (obsolete since 1920) A region located in the area between the Jordan river and the Arabian Desert to the east (Transjordan), usually contrasted with Western Palestine (Cisjordan).
    Synonym: East Palestine

Usage notes

  • After the creation of Mandatory Palestine in 1920, the area east of the Jordan river was no longer considered to be part of Palestine, making the term obsolete.
