  1. verbal suffix added to adjectives, nouns, and (rarely) verb roots, generally causing i-mutation in the stem

    blōd (blood) + ‎-sian → ‎blētsian, blēdsian (to consecrate, bless)
    hwīnan (whistle) + ‎-sian → ‎hwinsian (to make a whistling or whizzing sound)
