Etymology
From Angkorian Old Khmer ចាយ៑ (cāy) or Pre-Angkorian Old Khmer ចាយ៑ (cāy, “to give out; to scatter; to disperse; to dispose of”). Cognate with Modern Khmer ចាយ (caay), Lao ຈ່າຍ (chāi). Extended as จำหน่าย (jam-nàai).
