Adverb from *प्रायस् (*prāyas, “more”, unattested comparative of पुरु (purú, “much”)), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *práHyās, from Proto-Indo-European *pléh₁yōs, from the root *pleh₁- (“to fill”). Cognate with Younger Avestan 𐬟𐬭𐬁𐬌𐬌𐬀𐬵 (frāiiah, “more, very much, too much”).
