Adverb from *प्रायस् (*prāyas, more, unattested comparative of पुरु (purú, much)), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *práHyās, from Proto-Indo-European *pléh₁yōs, from the root *pleh₁- (to fill). Cognate with Younger Avestan 𐬟𐬭𐬁𐬌𐬌𐬀𐬵 (frāiiah, more, very much, too much).
