Borrowed from Classical Persian جَهَنَّم (jahannam), borrowed from Arabic جَهَنَّم (jahannam), borrowed from Aramaic גֵּיהִנָּם + Ge'ez ገሀነም (gähänäm). First attested in c. 1564 as Middle Hindi جہنم (jhnm /jahannam/).[1]
