λαγγάζω

Ancient Greek

Etymology

Disputed. Perhaps a nasal-present from Proto-Indo-European *(s)leg-. If this theory is accepted, then the term is cognate with Latin langueō. However, Beekes compares the term to λαγαίω (lagaíō) and argues that the a-vocalism and the λαγ (lag)/λαγγ (lang) variation indicates a Pre-Greek origin.
