- (politics) a political ideology that combines right-wing politics with populist rhetoric and themes, typically framing a loss of national sovereignty (via immigration, globalization, multiculturalism, etc.) as the root cause of a country's problems, as well as blaming the political establishment and institutions of expertise (e.g. mainstream media, academia, international organizations) for being primarily responsible.
