Back-formation from transitive ngibulin, from Betawi ngibulin (to make a fool of, literally to show buttocks to), from N- -in +‎ kibul (buttocks), with the verb stem derived from Balinese kibul (buttocks of a fowl). Equivalent to nge- +‎ kibul.
