emergency medical technician (plural emergency medical technicians) (abbreviated EMT)
- (emergency medical services) An ambulance worker who works in patient stabilization and emergency transport. In some services, an EMT is a trainee who is not a paramedic; in other services, a paramedic is a senior-level EMT, sometimes called an EMT-P in contrast with an EMT-I, etc.
