Etymology 1

From Proto-Albanian *dera or *derna, from Proto-Indo-European *dr̥-néH-ti, from *der- (to tear, split).
Compare Ancient Greek δέρω (dérō, to skin), Sanskrit दृणाति (dṛṇāti, to burst, to tear) and Gothic 𐌲𐌰𐍄𐌰𐌹𐍂𐌰𐌽 (gatairan, to tear).[1]
Alternatively, variant of bjerr.[2]
