Irish
Etymology
Apparently from the synonymous amarrán, with the suffix -án replaced by -óid. The word does not appear in the Dictionary of the Irish Language or the Irish Historical Corpus, suggesting it is either not very old or belonged exclusively to the spoken language until recently.
