Tyrannasorus

Translingual

Etymology

Blend of Tyrannosaurus +‎ Hybosorus. By surface analysis, Ancient Greek τῠ́ρᾰννος (tŭ́rănnos, tyrant) +‎ Ancient Greek σωρός (sōrós, heap, pile, mound). The type species is Tyrannasorus rex, further reinforcing the play on words. Possibly named as such due to Tyrannosaurus being a well-known fossil taxon, as this genus is also.

Proper noun

Tyrannasorus m

  1. A taxonomic genus within the family Hybosoridae – certain extinct scarabaeoid beetles.
