Reconstruction notes
Onset *tɬ- is inferred from derived terms and other reconstructions that yield k- in Ketic and Kottic but l- in Arinic and Pumpokolic (cf. *tɬewtja (“winter”).)
Etymology
Compared to Proto-Athabaskan *-tɬαɣ̇ ~ -ɬ-tɬαɣ̇ (“to rub, to anoint with, to smear”).[3] Perhaps also related to *tɬiwdʳ (“oil, lard, suet, tallow”), see there for more cognates in Athabaskan languages.
