Reconstruction:Proto-Tupi-Guarani/kunumĩ
Proto-Tupi-Guarani
Noun
*kunumĩ[1]
Reconstruction notes
Mello reconstructs the protoform as *kurumĩ believing the Old Tupi descendant originally had an [ɾ],[2] when this was in fact an 18th century innovation. Schleicher, despite writing the correct Old Tupi word, also reconstructs it the same way.[3] Both of them ignore that all the cognates they've listed besides Kaapor have an [n] in that position.
