Reconstruction:Proto-Finnic/riitta
Proto-Finnic
Etymology
Probably borrowed from Proto-Norse [Term?] (compare dialectal Swedish rita (“to erect, lift up, direct”)), related to Proto-Germanic *rihtijaną. Borrowing from Proto-Baltic *reita (whence dialectal Lithuanian rieta (“to pile”)) is not possible due to phonetic issues.
