Borrowed from Brazilian Portuguese Palestina, from Old Galician-Portuguese Palestina, a learned borrowing from Latin Palaestīna, borrowed from Ancient Greek Παλαιστίνη (Palaistínē), possibly borrowed from Hebrew פְּלֶשֶׁת + Egyptian pwrꜣsꜣtj + Akkadian 𒉺𒆷𒀸𒌓.[1]
