From o' +‎ Soyoos, literally of Soyoos. Blend of Okanagan +‎ Soyoos, from of the Soyoos, from Okanagan Sẁiẁs, from sẁiẁs (narrowing of the waters). The "o" represents an "of" and harmonization of toponyms in the Okanagan with a starting "O". It is named for the narrowing at the outlet of Osyoos Lake.
