     Der Kapitalist, der den Mehrwerth producirt, d.h. unbezahlte Arbeit unmittelbar aus den Arbeitern auspumpt und in Waaren fixirt, ist zwar der erste Aneigner, aber keineswegs der letzte Eigenthümer dieses Mehrwerths. Er hat ihn hinterher zu theilen mit Kapitalisten, die andre Funktionen im Grossen und Ganzen der gesellschaftlichen Produktion vollziehn, mit dem Grundeigenthümer u.s.w.

     The capitalist who produces surplus-value, i.e. who extracts unpaid labour directly from the workers and fixes it in commodities, is admittedly the first appropriator of this surplus-value, but he is by no means its ultimate proprietor. He has to share it afterwards with capitalists who fulfil other functions in social production taken as a whole, with the owner of the land, and with yet other people.

     Der Arbeitsprozeß, auf kapitalistischer Grundlage, hat zwei Eigentümlichkeiten: 1. der Arbeiter arbeitet unter Kontrolle des Kapitalisten, 2. das Produkt ist Eigentum des Kapitalisten, da der Arbeitsprozeß jetzt nur ein Prozeß zweier vom Kapitalisten gekauften Dinge ist: der Arbeitskraft und der Produktionsmittel. p. 150.
     Der Kapitalist verlangt aber nicht den Gebrauchswert produziert für sich, sondern nur als Träger des Tauschwerts und speziell Mehrwerts. Die Arbeit unter dieser Bedingung - wo die Ware Einheit von Gebrauchswert und Tauschwert war - wird Einheit von Produktionsprozeß und Wertbildungsprozeß. p. 151.

     The labour process, on a capitalist basis, has two peculiarities. 1. The labourer works under the capitalist's control. 2. The product is the capitalist's property, since the labour process is now only a process between two things purchased by the capitalist: labour-power and means of production. (P. 150.)
     But the capitalist does not want the use-value produced for its own sake, but only as the depository of exchange-value and especially of surplus-value. Labour under this condition — where the commodity was a unity of use-value and exchange-value — becomes the unity of the production process and of the process of creating value. (P. 151.)
