Etymology
The genus name is borrowed from Amharic ጊንጥ (ginṭ, “scorpion”) and the genus' gender as masculine, according to the taxon authors.[1] The genus' type species, Gint gaitako, was found in Ethiopia, where Amharic is the official language.
