Etymology
From Latin Cōnfūcius (“Confucius”) + -ornis (“bird”, from Ancient Greek ὄρνῑς (órnīs)). Coined by Chinese ornithologist and paleontologist Lianhai Hou, by Chinese paleontologist Zhou Zhonghe, by ornithologist Yucai Gu and by Chinese paleornithologist Jiangyong Zhang in 1995.
