Proto-Indo-European *-(h₁)seti, which formed desiderative verbs.

Suffix

-σω • (-sō)

  1. The future suffix: applied to the bare stem, causing a lengthening of the vowel (with alpha becoming eta).
  2. (rare) The future perfect suffix: applied to the perfect stem without personal endings, the tense is rarely attested to begin with and it is unknown if a future perfect passive would use -θ or not.
