𐤡𐤭𐤠𐤱𐤭𐤳𐤦𐤳

Lydian

Etymology

Uncertain. Based on the speculative meaning "(member of the) religious society", this item has been compared with Ancient Greek φράτρα (phrátra, clan, (political) brotherhood); if so, then ultimately related to *bʰréh₂tēr. However, Ilya Yakubovich (Hackstein, Miller & Rieken, Eds., 2017–, s.v. "Lydian prafrš(i)-") connects the word to [script needed] (afar(i)-, property transfer, trade (?)), considering it to mean "the proprietor or overseer of property".[1]
