Etymology

From Jurchen 木克 (mu-ke /⁠muke⁠/), from Proto-Tungusic *mū, which often compared with Mongolian мөрөн (mörön, “river”), Korean 물 (mul, “water”), Goguryeo 買 (*me, “river; water”) and Japanese 水 (mizu, “water”). Cognate with Bala 木克, Negidal мӯ, Oroch мӯ, Orok мӯ (mū); Solon ᠮᠦ (mu), Oroqen mu꞉, Evenki мӯ (mū), Even мӯ (mū).
