ᠬᠤᠤᠯᠢᠩᠭᠤᠤᠯ
Mongolian
Etymology
Taken from the name of the Holin River; traditionally thought to be derived from ᠬᠣᠭᠤᠯᠠᠨ (qoɣulan, “food to be eaten”) + ᠭᠣᠣᠯ (ɣool, “river”), in reference to the river being historically used for rest and recuperation. Alternatively, possibly from the cognate term ᠬᠣᠭᠤᠯᠠᠶ (qoɣulay, “channel; waterway”).
