Etymology
Borrowed from Pali pavatti (“manifestation; wielding; execution; happening; incident”), with a hypercorrection of the prefix pa- to the related Sanskrit प्र- (pra-). Cognate with Lao ປະຫວັດ (pa huat), Khmer ប្រវត្តិ (prɑvŏət).
