Etymology
From ปฏิ (bpà-dtì, “against”) + ชีวนะ (“biotic”) (see Pali jīva (“living”) for more on the latter component); calque of English antibiotic. Cognate with Burmese ပဋိဇီဝဆေး (pa.ti.jiwa.hce:).
