Usage notes
- In modern usage, the present term only refers to early childhood, primary, or secondary education students. Tertiary education students are called นักศึกษา (nák-sʉ̀k-sǎa) or นิสิต (ní-sìt).
- In general, students are called ผู้เรียน (pûu-riian).
