ธง
Thai
Etymology
Uncertain, but ธ in the word is definitely contaminated by Pali dhaja (whence Thai ธชะ, ธัช (tách)), the Pali from Sanskrit ध्वज (dhvajá). Compare Northern Thai ᨴᩩᨦ, Lao ທຸງ (thung), Khün ᨴᩩᨦ, Lü ᦑᦳᧂ (tung), Shan တုင်း (túng), Tai Nüa ᥖᥧᥒᥰ (tüng), Khmer ទង់ (tŭəng).
