Inherited from Proto-Dravidian *kākkay (“crow”). Cognate with Kannada ಕಾಗೆ (kāge), Tamil காக்கை (kākkai), Tulu ಕಕ್ಕೆ (kakke) and Telugu కాకి (kāki).
