Inherited from Prakrit 𑀡𑁄𑀳𑀸 (ṇohā), from Sanskrit स्नुषा (snuṣā). Cognate with Kashmiri نۄش (nọś, daughter-in-law), and Belarusian (dialectal) сныха́ (snyxá, a lively girl).
