Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀓𑀼𑀢𑁆𑀣 (kuttha​) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), from earlier 𑀓𑀼𑀢𑁆𑀢 (kutta), from Sanskrit কুত্র (kutra). The aspiration was probably due to conflation with -ttha suffix of various positional adjectives, from Sanskrit -স্থা (-sthā).
