Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘓𑘳𑘩𑘲 (culī), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀘𑀼𑀮𑁆𑀮𑀻 (cullī), 𑀘𑀼𑀮𑁆𑀮𑀺 (culli), from Sanskrit चुल्ली (cullī), ultimately from Proto-Dravidian *col. Cognate with Bengali চুলা (cula) and Hindi चूल्हा (cūlhā).
