Piecewise equivalent to Arabic هٰهُنَاكَ (hāhunāka), but the origin of the North Levantine Arabic ـِيك (-īk, distal) is uncertain. Perhaps the word was reformed from native هَوْنِي (hawne; hawni?) +‎ ـك (-k, distal) and it was seen as appropriate to extend هَوْنِي (hawne; hawni?) to هَوْنِيـ (hawnī-).
