لقم

Univerbation of لَـ (la-, jussive) +‎ قُام (/⁠ʔ̣ōm⁠/, “to rise; it rose”) in northern Lebanese dialects that rounded ā in the vicinity of emphatics. Later shifted from *لَقُام (/⁠*laʔ̣ōm⁠/) to *لَقُام (/⁠*láʔ̣ōm⁠/) to لَقُم (/⁠laʔ̣om⁠/) in the same way as لَكَن (lakan, “then”) and خَلَص (ḵalaṣ, “enough”).

  l’expression n’est pas particulière à Hadchîte et au Nord (laqum, dans le Akkâr), elle est connue et employée dans la région de Batroûn; laʾom vient probablement de *la-qām, comme lakan de *la-kān.

  The expression is not specific to Hadchit and in the North (laqum, in Akkar), it is known and used in the region of Batroun; laʾom probably comes from *la-qām, like lakan from *la-kān.
