Usage notes
- Usually only forms nouns from adjectives. Most adjectives formed from nouns ending in ـه (-a / -e) use the non-joining forms ـای (-i) (in Iran) or ـیی (-yī) (in Dari); but both forms may be present in each country.
- Prescribed by some in Afghanistan and Proscribed in Iran to be written with a ZWNJ, e.g. بچهگی (bačča-gī / bačče-gi). Although this way is present in both countries, the joined version (with ـه (-a / -e) excluded) is more common in both.
- Sometimes misspelled joined with he (بچهگی) or with a space (بچه گی).
