Inherited from Middle Persian 𐭮𐭩𐭭𐭬𐭥𐭫𐭥 (synmwlw /⁠sēn-murw⁠/).[1] According to folk etymology a compound of سی ( / si, thirty) and مرغ (murġ / morġ, bird). See also The Speech of the Birds.
