Etymology

Inherited from Chagatai رحمت (rähmät), from Arabic رَحْمَةٌ (raḥmatun). Cognate with Uzbek rahmat. Compare also Kazakh рақмет (raqmet), Tatar рәхмәт (räxmät), Ottoman Turkish رحمت (rahmet), Turkish rahmet, etc.
