أوامر
Arabic
Etymology
أَوَامِر (ʔawāmir) is explained as transferred from مَأْمُور (maʔmūr) through the set phrase الْأَمْر مَأْمُور (al-ʔamr maʔmūr), reinterpreted as آمِر (ʔāmir) analogously to forms like عَارِف (ʕārif) for مَعْرُوف (maʕrūf) and رَاضِيَة (rāḍiya) for مَرْضِيَّة (marḍiyya), then pluralized on فَوَاعِل (fawāʕil), producing أَوَامِر (ʔawāmir).
