Compare Arabic فَاحَ (fāḥa, “to be fragrant, to spread (perfume)”) and Arabic فَاخَ (fāḵa, “to fart noisily, to emanate (odor)”). The p sound is probably of a similar onomatopoeic origin as the f in נָפַח (nafákh, “to breathe, to blow, to exhale”).
