Etymology

First attested in the 14th ‒ 15th century.[1] Inherited from Proto-Slavic *močidlo with Old Pskovian reflex *dl > гл (gl), compare typical Eastern Old Novgorodian *dl > л (l).[2] Cognate with Old East Slavic мочило (močilo).
