  • From Proto-Hellenic *auhrā, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂éwsr̥h₂ (morning air), from *h₂ews- (dawn; east). From a separate ablaut grade *h₂ewsḗr, the ancestor of ᾱ̓ήρ (āḗr).[1]
