1. (extIPA) Slurred or sliding articulation. Joins two letters into a consonantal diphthong such as [s͢θ], which moves from [s] to [θ] within the time of a single consonant.

When the base letters have a descender or another diacritic, a diacritic above ⟨◌᫫◌⟩ may be used instead, as in ⟨ɽ᫫r⟩.
