əməlli

From əməl +‎ -li. The word əməl has connotations of intentional and consequential work, so the current senses evolved from something like "having meaningful consequences, working, functioning".

1. decent, proper

   əməlli pulları var oların ― they have decent amount of money.

     "Özünə niyə bir əməlli at almırsan?" ... "Əməlli ata əməlli də pul istəyirlər."

     "Why aren't you buying yourself a decent horse?" ... "For a decent horse they ask for decent pay".

2. well, thoroughly

   əməlli ye! ― eat well!

   kənddə əməlli işlədim ― I worked thoroughly in the village.

3. (as an intensifier) really, very

   əməlli xəstələnibmişsən ki. ― (turns out) you are really sick.

   bunlar əməlli savadlı adamlardır. ― these guys are really smart people.
