éilled
Old Irish
Alternative forms

- hǽllned (St. Gall glosses)
- éillned (Mon. Tall)
Etymology
From as·lena (“to pollute”) + -ad (forms verbal nouns for weak verbs). Assimilation of -ln- clusters to -ll- is regular, and the allomorphy is preserved in the Milan glosses. But in other sources, the -n- has been restored.
